Pick-Ups and Drop-Offs
Drop-off and Pick-Up times are from 8 to 10 AM and from 4 to 6 PM, daily except Sunday morning is 10 AM to Noon. While it is possible to make special arrangements outside of these times for a nominal fee, we ask that you notify us ahead of time so that we can be prepared.
When you arrive at the ranch, please keep in mind that new arrivals naturally excite and interest the dogs and it is not unusual when dropping off or picking up your dog to be greeted at the gate by excited, barking dogs. All of our clients are dog lovers at heart, and it is understandable for them to want to greet the dogs enthusiastically and to touch and pet them. Unfortunately, this often adds to the dogs’ excitement and can lead to unwanted behaviors, such as fixation, dominance or aggression. There are several that things you can do (or avoid doing) to help us maintain our calm, attentive pack energy and we appreciate any effort to do so because it is in this area, more than any other, that our clients have the opportunity to personally influence the energy and balance of our pack and determine the course of our future.
When dropping off or picking up your dog at Simba, please DO:
• Think positive thoughts and know that your dog will enjoy a visit to Simba.
• Buzz to notify us of your arrival.
• Wait at the gate until a team member comes to greet you.
• Ignore the dogs as much as possible when you first arrive.
• Speak in a calm, low-key manner to the team member.
• Allow interested dogs to sniff you but please do not reach out to touch them.
• Help us make sure all of our gates remain closed when not in use.
When dropping off or picking up your dog at Simba, please DON’T:
• Worry that your dog will not enjoy a visit to Simba or resent being left behind.
• Focus on the negative aspects of leaving your dog or the ensuing separation.
• Shout or talk in an excited or high-pitched voice.
• Call or whistle for your dog.
• Initiate eye contact with the dogs, which can be seen as a threat.
Please be aware that in order to ensure the safety of our pack and the quality of our services all dogs and their owners must first attend an initial meeting with Simba Ranch staff before we can accept reservations.
